Notice Board

Here you will find information on current and forthcoming events.

Apiary sessions

Although indoor meetings have started, please note that the Thursday evening apiary sessions continue until the end of September, with the last session on Thursday 30th.
We need to continue feeding and checking the hives!

Midland and South Western Counties Beekeepers Convention

This annual event is being held on 10th, 11th and 12th September. This year the venue is the North Gower Hotel, Llanrhidian, SA3 1EE, in the heart of the beautiful Gower peninsular.
There are many interesting topics in the programme, which you can see on the Convention web site. The cost, including lunch, is just £40 for the Saturday and £35 for Sunday. Weekend prices including accommodation are also available.

Our Honey Show

This year's Honey Show is on Thursday 7th October. It isn't just honey: you can enter hive products of any kind, and craft and art works too.

2010 Christmas Draw

This year we have planned a Christmas Draw with a difference. We would like to fill a hamper with home grown, home made produce and raffle it to friends, neighbours and family. We propose a £1 per 5 ticket strip for a hamper that, hopefully will be worth around £250!

The draw will take place at the Christmas Social on December 2nd and will be delivered the following week. But we need your help.

If you make any home grown product: Jam, Chutney, Wine, Cordial etc and are willing to donate a pot, that will be very welcome.

Also if you make non-food products, aromatherapy, cosmetics etc that will be very welcome too. Of course all honey related products (except Honey!) will be especially welcome. If you are handy with a tool and can produce something like a bread or cheese board or other item we will love to have it.

We would like, where appropriate, to use half pound and one pound honey jars for the sake of uniformity and we will label all products for you using the DFBKA logo and any description you provide.
